Civil Inspector Tunnels for Riyadh Metro - Saudi Arabia

Role Summary
The Riyadh Metro project is seeking experienced Civil Inspectors with tunnel experience to inspect and review work in accordance with standards determined in the contractual project drawings and specifications.
The Civil Inspector (Tunnel) will provide general inspections on construction labor and subcontractor work to assure contractual compliance. They will monitor quality control and quality assurance, review field measurements and assist in compiling Bill of Quantities reports (BoQs) for payment of quantities and changes in the work.
The Civil Tunnel Inspectors will also prepare daily reports in accordance with the projects requirements and will observe general job safety and environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Monitoring all site construction and inspection work when required or instructed by the Resident Engineer (RE) or the Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE)
Working with the REs, AREs and Civil Tunnel Engineers when dealing with the contractors regarding project activities such as the construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client’s requirements
Reviewing operational process and installations to ensure that the subcontractors comply with the design, standards and specifications of the contract documents
Ensuring the subcontractors comply with operational and safety standards
Assisting to identify, respond to or evaluate field construction technical issues to maintain the schedule
Verifying field measurements
Providing documentation relating to changes in contract work
Assisting in reviewing subcontractor daily and weekly inspection reports under the instruction of the REs and AREs
Assisting in compiling Bill of Quantity (BoQ) reports for monthly pay estimates
Participating in weekly design review meetings with Civil Engineering (Tunnel) team
Skill Set
Essential
Degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering or related subject
Minimum 3 years experience of working on civil engineering projects (or 9 years for non-degree holders)
Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, structural design of tunnels, soil and rock mechanics
Experience of working with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) – preferably in a soft soils or urban environment
Capable of identifying various parts of TBM, their functions and knowledge of their limitations
Awareness of the operating procedures of various modes of TBM
Knowledge of the quality issues in TBM drive, ring build, annalus grout and their tolerances
Ability to distinguish various operating parameters of TBM, and deciphering the relevance of the parameters, capable of recording
Aware of safety issues in TBM and emergency drills
Excellent written and verbal English language skills
Desirable
Experience of rail, metro or related project
